With all the crap we've had going on in the last week, we got into a bad habit of holding Nicholas until he was asleep, then laying him down. Then when he would wake up at night, I would take him onto the couch with me to nurse him - then we would fall asleep and be there for a couple of hours.
I hadn't realized we were doing it until I was telling mom and dad what his routine had been lately, before I left for work last night. Then it dawned on me that we needed to sleep train again and get him to fall asleep on his own in his crib. I was nice and didn't make my parents be the bad guy last night, and let them continue as we had been doing and holding him until he was asleep.
So tonight, I fed him then read him a book after DH had a cuddle with him, then laid him down awake - the little stinker just rolled over and went to sleep! :yay: It wasn't as hard as I figured it would be - now we just have to work on getting back into bed without falling asleep at his nighttime feeding!
I think I'm going to bring my cell phone out with me tonight when/if he gets up and set it for 10 min on each side, so I can get both of us back into bed right after nursing!
