Anyone have information/experience on them? DH thinks we need to get this one vs. a Britax Marathon - I happen to disagree but I told him I would do research on them to compare.

Why does he think that?

Don't have firsthand knowledge, but Recaro seats are supposed to be excellent.

I personally think that Britax gets a lot of hype...they are the "big name" seats. I also think that Britax seats are excellent, they are safe and easy to use. I just think it is unfortunate that a lot of other good and great seats get overlooked because people hear Britax and jump. JMO.

FWIW, I do have a Britax (or rather did, used one for Abby) and I now have a Maxi Cosi. I like the Maxi Cosi as much, if not more than the Britax.

I haven't a clue about those and have never heard of them. I went with the Evenflo Triumph Advance and have always used Evenflo seats as our convertible car seat and they work just fine for us.

Why does he think that?

They are big in vehicle car seat manufacturing, so he thinks they would make great carseats and we should look into it more. It does seem to have all the same safety points that Britax does - the big thing I'm trying to figure out is where you tighten the straps. If it's not in the front then I won't even consider it - I hate having to mess with tightening the straps in the back! The price is roughly the same as Britax as well. I'm going to see if I can find somewhere local who sells them so we can go in and play with them and compare them in person to the other seats.

Stacey - one of my good friends got an Evenflo Triumph Advance and loves it! I'm looking at that seat as well...just have to narrow it down and finally buy one!

Jeanette - I have heard of the Maxi Cosi but don't know anything about it.

Kim I am not sure about the Recaro, I don't know much about it, but I have read that they are narrow at shoulder width and don't have any built in lock offs.

I only have the Britax Marathon and my SS1 and might get an Evenflo Triumph Advance as one of my seats as well. I don't really think Britax is about hype, I think they are great seats, specially in the life you get out of it, vs buying 2 or 3 seats until they reach the appropriate time to use a booster. There are a lot of convertible seats out there, however some are outgrown very fast and you end up spending the same amount of money on 2 seats vs just one.

Kim try it out the Recaro at a store and see what you think, otherwise I would go with the EFTA for the price, just know the EFTA has knobs to adjust the harness, you could also try it out at the store ;0)

we have 1 evenflo triumph advance and 1 evenflo titan advance, one for my car and one for DF! we love them!!!! i got one at my baby shower and the other we just bought for DFs car, the titan one has a higher weight limit, 40lbs i think! they are so great! we tried out all the seats at BRU and still decided that the evenflo was the right one for us! the only thing we had to do was to roll up a towel and put it underneath so it would recline just a bit more bc Zach always falls asleep in the car and i wanted his head to be back nicely! but it said you could do so right in the instruction manual for rearfacing, so that makes me feel even better about doing it! and Zach loves the seats so much better than his snugride, and its much more convenient for us!

sorry i didnt really answer your ? but if an evenflo is also on your list i would highly recommend it!

Kim lock offs are built in to certain seats, in case you have a car whose seat belts don't lock in. For instance on the base of your SS1 you will see a red button clip if you were to use the seat belt, that red button clip is a lock off, this is to keep the base in place once it has been tightened up, if your cars seat belts do not lock on their own. On covertible seats they look different but serve the same purpose.

My SIL had one and her husband loved it. All I know is that the baby spilled something on it and SIL threw it away instead of washing it and her husband was pissed because it was expensive.
