i'm sorry chris!!
holden has been crying all day the past 2 days. it sucks!
nights at least one is up a few times and for some damn reason 4-6am they think its wake up time. i think NOT! if i hold them or put them in with me they will go back to bed. it sucks cuz dh leaves between 4-5am to plow snow. i wish i knew how to get them to go to bed at 7 and stay asleep til 7 cuz thats how much sleep they need

Chris

Oh Chris - that sounds awful! Does his pedi have any ideas what's going on? His ears?

Kimberli

Nicholas has been doing well :hide: - to bed around 8p and sleeps until between 5-6:30am. He takes one 1 hr nap about 4 hrs after he wakes up and if I'm lucky he'll take another 30-60 min nap in the afternoon.

We there for his 12 month last week and she told me teeth:(

I keep asking if his reflux could be back. But she says no.

Sometimes I think they dont know anything.

Do you still have his reflux meds that you could start again for like a week's trial and see if he feels any better?

that is great Kim. What is your secret?

No secret - it just happened. He went from waking up 1-2x/night to not at all a couple of weeks ago.

We have a pretty set routine - dinner at 5:30 then bath and lotion massage, and then play for a little while. Usually around 7:15 or so he wants to cuddle and nurse, gets drowsy or sometimes falls asleep completely. Then I read him "Love You Forever" and lay him down. Sometimes he fusses for a minute or two, sometimes he doesn't, and he's usually down for the night and he'll only cry for a second when he changes positions.

I wish I had sone answers/solutions so you guys could get some sleep! A friend of mine has talked to this lady - I haven't been to the website yet but I think there is some good info on there... http://www.sleepsense.net/answers

Raquel

Kimberli

Oh sorry!

Chris
12-18-2008, 01:11 AM
I dont have any of the meds. Sometimes I wish I did. I know something is bothering him.
Just dont buy that it is just his teeth.

Raquel
12-18-2008, 01:23 AM
i hear ya chris. the teething thing cant be constant for 12 months. would your pedi give you some more to try to see if it helps?

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 01:29 AM
It's too bad his pedi isn't more understanding and willing to help you troubleshoot! She should listen to your mommy instinct that something is wrong, beyond his teeth, and try to help you find a solution!

Trevor goes down well but is getting up 2-3x a night!! AAHHHHHHHHH I want a baby who sleeps :pout: I just started last night and will likely ignore him till his 4-5am cry and then I will start cutting that one out too hopefully 'training' him to sleep all night. He does want to eat when he gets up not sure completely if it comfort or necessity.

Raquel

I hope so, my fingers are crossed for you! Nicholas has already been up once since he went down - he was crying and not going back to sleep, so he came out to cuddle with me for a little while then back to bed. Hopefully he'll sleep all night since I've been up since 5:30a yesterday morning...UGH!

Raquel
12-18-2008, 03:59 AM
damn girl! you need some sleep

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 04:12 AM
Yeah, I need to log off here and get to bed - morning and the babies are going to be getting me up way too early! There is an ice storm moving in here, so my sister will be dropping my niece off even earlier, therefore cutting into my much needed sleep - that is if Nicholas doesn't wake me up even earlier then when they get here! 'Night!

Raquel
12-18-2008, 04:15 AM
night girl! get some much needed rest

Chris- I know what is wrong with J. I just compared Harley's age with Jared and J is teething is molar. Keep him medicated. Alternate motrin and Tylenol, give teething tabs and oragel, and let him have biting toys. Harley wa steething her molars and was miserable for over a month. She got 4 molars all at once. She was not sleeping, waking up in pain and the around the clock medicine helped. I know some people say you should not give them medicine that long, but she was in so much pain. Now all 4 teeth broke through, finally, and she is soooo mcuh better. sleeping again and happy.

Logan seems to be doing well. He goes down between 7 and 8, wakes about 2:30 to nurse and then back up for the day about 6. He'll take nap mid-morning, early afternoon and sometimes a catnap about 5.

Raquel

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 03:07 PM
That's great Raquel!!

Raquel
12-18-2008, 03:09 PM
now if we can only eliminate the waking at 5

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 03:11 PM
I've accepted that because it doesn't seem to change. Sometimes I get lucky and he sleeps until 6:30 like today but not often. I figure if he's gotten 9 hrs already, he's probably ready to wake up by then...

Sarah
12-18-2008, 03:30 PM
Same here. 9 hours is a good stretch for us. The other day he suprised me and slept for 11.

Raquel
12-18-2008, 03:34 PM
i dont want to accept it. lol
dont they need 12 hours at night though

Raquel
12-18-2008, 03:34 PM
it wouldnt be so bad if they would stay up a little later and get up later that way but no matter what time they go to bed still up at 5-6am

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 05:25 PM
Nicholas slept 12 hrs for DH on Tues night when I was at work, he hadn't done that in awhile!

This is what Baby Center says for a 10 month old...

• About 14 hours of sleep in a 24-hour period — this includes nighttime sleep and naps. Two naps during the day (morning and afternoon) is typical. Read more about sleep needs at this age.

And for a 12 month old...

Now your baby is officially a toddler — but he still needs as much sleep as he did when he was younger. Until his second birthday, your child should get about 14 hours of sleep a day, 11 of those hours at night. The rest will come in nap form. He'll still need two naps at 12 months, but by the time he's 18 months old, he may be ready for a single hour-and-a-half to three-hour nap in the afternoon — a pattern he may follow until he's four or five. The transition from two naps to one can be difficult. Sleep expert Jodi Mindell suggests alternating one-nap and two-nap days, depending on how much sleep your toddler got the night before. You can also try putting your child to bed a little earlier on one-nap days.

my dr said most kids wont sleep for 12 hours at a time. said usually 8-10. so i'm going to try to put them to bed at 8 and see if they will sleep til 7

Chris
12-18-2008, 06:55 PM
Yeh Raquel. That was a good stretch.

Trevor will stay down 11-12 hrs but we are up and down nursing a couple of times most nights. He still naps twice a day too....usually just 1hr but has started sleeping 1 1/2+ this week.

Yikes guys, I thought I had it bad, well ever since Thanksgiving week when I was off and Gael was sick he picked up a new schedule while crying due to his sickness so we would stay up late and sleep in late, but ever since he refuses to go to bed until midnight, after that he will sleep all night and wake up for a bottle at 6 or 7 and go back to sleep till about 10 or 11 however that is great and dandy in the weekends, BUT during the week it does not work out.............I am sleepy all day :pout:

Sarah
12-18-2008, 07:51 PM
Yikes Marissa. Midnight is a little late!

I'm going to have to write down how much Logan sleeps. It doesn't seem like he gets 14 hours of sleep.

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 07:53 PM
I know Nicholas doesn't - it's more like 11-12 hrs.

That does suck Marissa, I would be dragging if Nicholas was up until midnight every night! What time is his afternoon nap?

Raquel
12-18-2008, 07:55 PM
wow marissa i have a hard enoght time keeping them up til 7.

they do take 1- 1 1/2 hr nap at 9am
then at 1-2 they sleep anohter 2-3hrs

Marissa
12-18-2008, 07:56 PM
He naps around 10:30 or 11:00 then he naps again until I pick him up on our way home, and then as soon as we get home I wake him up to see if he will be sleepy before 10 but nope! He wants to stay up playing in the dark until 12.......just making car noises, babbling, laughing.........um with NO toys.......but he will not sleep, rocking or his baby music will not even work anymore. not even a nice warm bath........... I will have to try to put him on a new schedule when I am off soon.

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 08:00 PM
Good luck Marissa - hopefully you can get him changed around! Have you tried just putting him in his crib at whatever time you want him to go to sleep? Especially since he isn't playing with toys, maybe being bored without you for a distraction, he will fall asleep...

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 08:01 PM
I'm jealous ofthe long naps Raquel! If Nicholas was napping that long, I wouldn't mind him being up early! ;)

Marissa
12-18-2008, 08:03 PM
Well I do put him in his crib and it is bare as can be, he seems to entertain himself with nothing........and he now pull himself up so just screams at us as we ignore him

Stacey
12-18-2008, 08:04 PM
Ya those are some AWSOME naps!!!

Raquel
12-18-2008, 08:06 PM
they arent consistent. they will wake up then i have to hold them then they go back to sleep then i put them back to bed

Kimberli
12-18-2008, 08:07 PM
Oh no Marissa! What about not letting him sleep for more then an hour after his morning bottle?

Sarah
12-18-2008, 08:30 PM
I don't know what I would do if Logan took a 2-3 hour nap! I'm lucky if he goes past 1 hour. He doesn't act sleep deprived, so maybe he just doesn't need much. It's not like I can make him sleep.
