So how many of you'll are using the hugs for the rear-facing? I know they are required for Forward-Facing but anyone remove them for rear-facing? We have ours on both Marathons although they don't bother G I might take them off not sure yet though.

Raquel

Jennifer

The things that basically hold the buckle that goes on their chest together.

Marissa

No not the cushion things Raquel, its the rubbers holding the chest clip thing...

Kimberli

Oh yeah, we left those on - I didn't take anything off of it when we installed it!

Marissa

Well they are still on ours but I was debating taking them off but maybe its better to leave them on so that he won't make such a fuss when one day he forward faces and is required to wear them.

Kim speaking of installing, did you ever get to do the Scenera install?

Kimberli

What purpose do they serve? I guess I didn't see that part in the book...

Well we haven't installed it yet but we finally did fit him to it - I'm glad we did do that though because I had to move the straps up and DH wouldn't have known how to do that!

Marissa

Did you have to use towels to to get a better recline position with the Scenera? On Dh's truck we had to use two...... he was about to have a cow with that seat lol

Kimberli

We haven't tried it in DHs truck yet but I will try to get down there tonight and try it when he gets home from work - I'll let you know!

Raquel

Well you can take off the Hugs for rear-facing, its optional but the Hugs are required for Forward-facing. I think I have made my decision and I am gonig to take the Hugs off for now, as soon as I have time to do so.

Kimberli

But what are they hurting by staying on when RF?

Marissa
04-01-2009, 02:34 PM
Oh they don't hurt Gael in anyway Kim but I hate moving them down when I bring up the chest clip as I am tightening him up. Dh said to leave them on.......we'll see.

I think the only time they might be a pain, is when the babies are little. For example, if you put a 3 or 4 mth old in the marathon rear facing, the HUGS might take up their whole body- ya know?

Marissa

I'll have to see, ha the bad part is I might end up loosing them and having to re-order another pair when he FF one day...........

Kimberli

I just read the page about them on Britax.com ( http://www.britaxusa.com/safety-center/superior-energy-management/hugs/ )- I guess I never pay much attention to them, they never seem to get in the way when I buckle him in.

Jennifer

Honestly Marissa, I would leave them on. ;) But it is totally up to you.

Kimberli

I'd just leave them if I were you, instead of taking the chance of losing them - maybe put them in your glovebox, if you do take them off, so you know where they are?

If you take them off, put them in that pouch that hangs off the back of the seat! I left them on when M was RF. I was so tempted to take them off because I felt they made it hard to get her harness tight but I ended up leaving them because I had already dealt with them for 4 or so months before I figured out it was okay to take them off. Plus, I figured I would be flipping her FF sooner than I originally planned so there wasn't much point in taking them off for a few weeks!

Good tip Tracy on the back pocket.........we'll see
