My ds who just turned 2 years old has always been a great sleeper. In bed by 8 pm and asleep by 8:15 and usually sleeps until 8am. He has napped just once a day since he was about 12 months. The nap is usually a 1-2 hr nap.
The past cpl weeks he has been fighting his bedtime...not wanting to be put to bed (but still falls asleep in about 15 min (btwn 8:15 and 8:30), but is now waking around 5 am and also his one nap has turned to just an half an hour! Is this a normal thing to happen at this age?

Gracie is almost 2 and she rarely takes a nap anymore, and she is a beast by the end of the day ..so I just stick her in bed early ..if that's the case. I hope he starts sleeping better for you.

I wonder if this could be Ryan's problem.

I think it could be related to being a 2 year old. Is he teething or doing something new in his routine?

I think it is normal for kids to go thru stages of not sleeping - Nicholas has gone thru so many stages of not sleeping, it isn't even funny anymore! Most often its because he has new teeth coming in, so he's hurting and restless - making him wake up more.

But it sounds like maybe your son just isn't requiring much sleep - sleeping from 8:30p to 5a, is still pretty good. As far as the nap goes, definitely try to still have some quiet time, even if he doesn't sleep but he may be trying to give up his nap! :(

Good luck, hopefully its just a phase that he'll get thru quickly!
