My bff has done them a few times and has 2 kids. Her uterus is tipped so it is mostly for her benefit but I know a lot of people who have to do them in order to get pg. You will go in for ultrasounds and that to see when you are ovulating, then when the time comes your dh will provide the swimmers and your dr will use a small tube to put them as close to your fallopian tubes as possible. Then you will take it easy at home for a day or two. And hopefully you will be pg!www.ivf.com.au/ivf/upload/Image/IUI.png

I have gone thru it...I had to have a hsg to make sure my tubes were clear..then I was given Fermara (clomid didnt work for me)...then when my eggs were ready (lots of u/s) I was triggered with a shot I had give myself a set amount of hours before the IUI was preformed...then we went into the RE's dh did hid thing they spun and cleaned the sperm then it was inserted...I had to lay there for 25 mins. ...then went home to spend the day in be...we were told to have sex that night to boost our chances.....

I had one IUI and I now have a beautiful baby girl.

I have had 2 IUIs. The 1st one failed and the 2nd one gave me Ryan. I had to take fertility meds on certain which were injections into my legs and stomach. I had a hsg done also.

This is to Kimberly and Rayvnn. Why was IUI suggested to you? Did your partners have okish sperm count and motility? Or is it only suggested if you have unexplained infertility?
Thanks to all of the guys that answered. xxxxx

DHs count was low but we found that it was due to a medication he was on so he stopped taking it (after a consult with his nephrologist), so with each IUI try it was higher and by the time we got pregnant, all was normal again. But we had also tried for over a year before we went to see the reproductive endocrinologist, so with that coupled with DHs low count, he advised IUI.

David's count was fine. I was the one with the fertility issues. I have PCOS and my body doesn't think it needs to ovulate. I went to IUI after years of traditional baby making and a few cycles of clomid didn't work.

We've done 2 iui's everyone choosing iui route is done for different reasons; for us we had been ttc for several years May 05- Jan 07 w/o success & wanted to give this a try. Our RE was for this. We never tried any injectables drugs only clomid, patches & timed ttc what fun. For all the years we were W/ the RE all our bfp happened w/o RE treatment of any kind. Go figure. Anyway; Both iui's were negative & truth be told we couldn't afford another round; at this point we were at the end of our rope... w/ fertility testing helping us 6 rounds of clomid & 2 iui's & no babies. Only thousands of $$ gone. The procedure wasn't really that bad no worse than a pap. We had all the bw, u/s to confirm follies & if the treatment was going to work it would have. Just not the right time I guess. Anyway I hope I was able to help. btw after we left the RE treatment the next month feb 07 I found myself pg! How ironic. Good luck in whatever you do. :)

Thanks Sherry oh i hope you don't wait much longer for your much awaited baby! Adoption for us is not an option..dh already adopted my dd and so he doesn't want more adopted babies sos. I wouldn't mind...but here in Malta its really difficult to adopt as well.
Have you ever read "Mixed Blessings" from Danielle Steel. Someone told me about it on another board and it made me feel like i should never ever give up! I would suggest that you read it hon. Its marvellous!

Tell me how it goes :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxkumbaya
