Neocate is a very constipating formula but perfect for babies with food allergies. Bryce has to take Phillips Milk of Magnesia everyday so that he doesn't get too constipated. Does anybody else use this formula?

If so, when you started on veggies did you come off the Phillips?

I wish you luck.

Ryan was able to take Soy based formula for a while before we needed to start milk. Ryan is on rice milk for now.

I've noticed that his poop has changed since starting veggies. He almost always poops outside his diaper now which is nasty and messy. I wonder if the veggies help him poop better and the Phillips is just magnifing the situation?

Do a test. Stop the Phillips and just give veggies and see what happens.

That's what I am probably going to do. We are switching formulas mid-Feb anyhow so the Phillips will be history soon.

Those veggies might be just what the little man needed!

MIL was impressed at how much he ate last night when they came over. I had about half of a 4 oz jar left of green beans that I fed him, a 2.5 oz jar of squash, a 2.5 oz jar of carrots and he had a few bites of peaches. He will literally scream until I put more food in his mouth. She was surprised that he topped this all off with 2 oz of formula.

Is this not normal? I have no basis of comparison with him. I was told to feed him when he wants to be fed. He never spits anything up. I guess my little man is going to be one big big man one day. LMBO!

We haven't been to the doctor in about a month so my guess is about 16 pounds.

As recommended by our pedi, we didn't even start solids until Nicholas was 6 months old and he had rice cereal for a couple of weeks, then a new veggie every 4 days followed by fruits, etc so he was probably over 9 months before he had that much food...

So it does seem like a lot of food to me for a 4 month old- at that age he should still be getting the majority of his calories from formula/breastmilk.

Preston started solids around 5 months and he didn't like cereal at all so we started with veggies and it seemed to have the same effect. I would see about ditching the MOM and see what happens.

The only thing that worries me is that he may stop pooping. I think I am going to talk to his GI doctor about ditching the MOM while he is eating veggies. Thx girls!

wow that is a lot of food for a 4 month old. why are you feeding him solids and so much so early esp when its not reccommended until 6 months? giving them solids too soon can cause allergies

He can't have rice cereal which is something most 4 months go on but was screaming to eat. He was holding his head up, not pushing things out of his mouth and showing a strong interest which is what the GI Specialist said was all that was required. She said that babies know when they are ready for baby food and to let him play leader. We asked our GI because of his interest in foods and she ok'ed it at 3 months of age. We still waited a month but he became intolerable and wanted food. He hasn't had any reactions to any of the foods that we are giving him so I don't see much wrong with it.

I agree!! Emma is 7 mths old and rarely gets solids!!! Solids are for fun right now not nutrition!! At Emmas age its about a tbsp (recommended) a day.....

But good luck with those allergies!! So not fun!

Yeah I think Bryce would have been the same if he wasn't allergic to milk protein. we had a doctors visit a few days ago and he said that Bryce is teething which is why he is so fussy and that the food is working just fine. Thankfully!
