What is the difference in an AIO and an AI2?

AIO (All in one) means that the soaker material is sewn into the diaper. AI2 means that the soaker is separate and can be taken out.

Some people prefer AIO because the soaker isn't floppy, but it does take longer to dry. The AIO is usually water proof. The AI2 can be made water proof or not.
