In adults, the most common foods that cause allergic reactions are: shellfish, such as shrimp, crayfish, lobster, and crab; nuts from trees, such as walnuts; fish; eggs; and peanuts, a legume that is one of the chief foods that cause anaphylactic reactions. In highly allergic people, even minuscule amounts of a food allergen (for example, 1/44,000 of a peanut kernel) can evoke an allergic reaction. Less sensitive people, however, may be able to tolerate small amounts of a food to which they are allergic.

In children, the pattern is somewhat different from adults, and the most common foods that cause allergic reactions are eggs, milk, peanuts, and fruits, particularly tomatoes and strawberries. Children sometimes outgrow their allergies, but adults usually do not lose theirs. Also, children are more likely to outgrow allergies to cow's milk or soy formula than allergies to peanuts, fish, or shrimp. Adults and children tend to react to those foods they eat more often. For example, in Japan, allergy to rice, and in Scandinavia, allergy to codfish, is more common than elsewhere.

hope I am not overwhelming you all

Blake and Emma both have a milk protein allergy. If I drink too much milk, Emma gets icky diapers. Blake can eat yogurt and eat cheese but cant drink actual milk.

He drinks Soy Milk.

Justin is allergic to shellfish. People act like it's sooo uncommon so I thought it was cool to see that it's really commmon in adults. and David has afew off the list. He's allergic to milk, wheat, eggs and shellfish

doug and i are gluten intolerant (not classified as an allergy) due to that sarah isn't eating gluten until she gets tested when she's 3. She's also not on cows milk due to an abundance of allergies on my side of the family, so she's been on goats milk since she turned 1. I wouldn't put her on Soy milk b/c of its estrogenic properties, noone in my family eats Soy.

:bighug:thats rough. in our situation our doc put her on goats milk b/c my dad and 2 of his 3 sisters are allergic to cows milk. So she weighed our options and decided on goats milk b/c of estrogenic properties in soy milk. I have had MAJOR issues with estrogen problems and we didn't want to go down that road with her. i wasn't by any means suggesting that you put your son on Goats milk, i was just saying whats going on in our family.
