so I had my gyno appt. yesterday...told her my period irregularities and problems. She suspects PCOS. I told her I didn't think that could be possible since everyone I know that has it, is on the heavier side. (I am only 5'6 140lbs) She informed me that it is still possible. After I went through my exam, they sent me to get some blood work. On March 16th they are going to read the results to me from the blood work and do an ultrasound. :( Anyone else have these issues? Do they do in intravaginal ultrasound?

I did and so do all of my sisters. I am on the heavier side but two of my sisters are about the same size you are and they still have it. You can have some symptoms and not others that is why it is a syndrome. I had ovarian drilling and lost weight but also did the metformin to help get pg and regulate my body and had great success it is treatable and you can still get pg in a lot of cases. I wish you the best of luck and let us know what the dr says.

the metformin is used for the insulin problem right? As far as I know I do not have any insulin resistance. When I re certified my QMA, I had to do a blood glucose check on myself. I had a couple candy bars and a large sweet tea from McDonalds and about thirty minutes later, my blood sugar was around 76, which is normal! I am wondering if the only issues with my body are the possibility of the cysts on my ovaries blocking the ovulation from occurring. Thanks for everyone's support. I will be sure to update more!

Yeah cysts play a big part of it. Metformin will also control the androgen's that flare up when you have PCOS.

I have been doing some reading about people starting up metformin and getting pregnant soon after....so I am going to hope and pray like crazy that it will work for us!

i think i might have a mild PCOS and i only weigh about 112 lbs, and 5"3 ft tall. i dont have any cycsts but have irregular periods, and excess facial hair. you can still get pregnant. i am on clomid right now and just found out i have 2 eggs that are almost mature and will be getting a trigger shot in a couple of days. there are soooo many options! good luck and keep us posted!
