Braden was sleeping sooo good... straight through the night. But then he got sick and sick again.. and well.. he quit sleeping. I had gotten him back to sleeping until 4:30ish and then he would come to bed with us.. for a few days. But then his molars started coming up. Now.. he's not teething at the moment but he's all screwed up.. and he's waking up a few times a night. And the only way I can get him to sleep is to either cuddle with him out in the recliner or bring him to bed. And then I put him back in his crib and he still wakes up a few times. I am tired. Well... dh thinks I need to try skipping his nap today. I'm all for it... except he gets pretty ornery when he gets tired during the day. So, dh suggested shortening his nap to 1 hour. He's been taking 2-3 hour naps on average and actually took a 4 hour nap yesterday. So, shortening his nap would mean I would have to wake him up. What do you think I should do? Shorten his nap or skip it completely???

Gracie had a hard time going to sleep at grandma's house a couple of Fridays ..when they usually go ..so we stopped giving her a nap during that day. She was pretty onery by the end of the night ..but she goes straight to sleep after. So if you can handle the onery ..I say go for it and skip it.

that's a toughie....I hate waking Cody up when he does nap, which is hardly ever any more....but maybe he is sleeping to much during the day. Didn't you say he had an ear infection??? maybe he needs to be propped up when he sleeps to comfort him???

He did have an ear infection awhile ago when he was sick but it's gone now.

you could do either shorten his nap or try to keep him up.

The only problem is that he could get overtired. And while some overtired kids sleep better, alot of them dont. When my kids are overtired they sleep worse...... JMO
If I were to choose one, Id wake him up ealrier from his nap. I wouldnt skip the nap though.

That's what I worry about too Susan. I just hate waking him up from a nap. But maybe that's what I'll do to start.

Well... he has got to take a nap today! He is soooooo crabby! So.. I think i'm just going to shorten it to 1 1/2 hours and see how he does.
I think if you shorten it by half an hour at a time then it will be less of a wrench for both of you :) I hope it goes smoothly.
