I think it depends on the child. Kyara stopped around 2. But my niece still naps after kindergarten every day and she's 6

Natalie is 4.5 and still somedays naps for an hour or so. I have a feeling once she starts pre-k full time she'll still nap. Now her sister on the other hand she stop napping at 3.5.

I think it all depends on the kid - I think some kids (or really people in general) just require more sleep then others! I plan on following my kids' leads - if it becomes a constant battle to get him to nap (once he's older) then I won't push it.

I am 35 and I don't think I'm too old for naps. In fact, I know I'm not too old!

My grandfather in his 70s has taken a nap everyday of his life. I remember being young and he would come home on his lunch break and take a nap, then my grandmother would send him back to work with his lunch. Even when his job changed he went to my cousins house on his lunch to nap.

I agree with everybody that all kids are different! I think if your kiddo is tired let them nap! I do however have a problem with people forcing kids to nap when they aren't small is an issue and makes bedtime difficult! My oldest stopped napping at 2...as much as I wanted her to nap more, she wouldn't do it! But she slept great stretches at night!

depends on the kid and the activity level. Sometimes Ella still needs one.
I agree that you should take a childs lead. I remember when I was in mid school I always felt so tired after school and wanted to sleep-my step mom never let me and to this day I don't understand why. I remember i always felt sooo tired and during the summer (when she was hardly ever home) i would sleep til 1 sometimes 2 in the afternoon just trying to catch up on the sleep I lost. in high school (when she wasn't around anymore) i napped everyday after school-but i also had to wake up at 530, be at school by 630 AND was in marching band and track-so i was pretty active.
i think its important to not force a nap and NOT not allow one at the same time. besides, recent studies have shown that ADD and ADHD are often results of lack of sleep. (my step mom's youngest son-my age-had ADHD)
