How do you know when an infant car seat expires? I want to use the one I bought for Addison 2.5 years ago (no accidents or even that much use) but not if it is unsafe. I just know that one of you wonderful ladies will know the answer to my question of the day...

I believe my carseat had it stamped or embossed right on the plastic shell on the back/underside of the carrier. If it was a brand new seat for Addi, its certainly still okay for Charlie!

5 years. If it was new when you purchased it.

We have the same travel system I believe, and I am using it for Chloe. Mine was manufactured 10/2007... I checked the carrier itself and can't find an expiration but can't check the base since Steve took the car. I will check that wehn he gets home.

Its usually 6 years or so (my graco safeseat is 6 yrs) and like someone above said - will either be on a sticker or actually stamped into the plastic itself on the carseat. http://www.car-safety.org/faq.html#Q25

Also, everyone who is reusing carseats from previous kids, make sure you check for any recalls since its older now and might have had issues with recalls since you got them...probably not but its always good to make sure just in case! http://www.car-safety.org/faq.html#Q11

And Keren, you'll want to check the carseat, not the base - they aren't easy to find on some seats but by law have to be there. So if you can't find it then check the book or website and it should tell you where its located.
