Do not use metal spoon or bowl for mixing.
Do not refrigerate.
If air gets into bag, let it out (burp it :))
It is normal for batter to thicken, bubble and ferment.
Day 1
You received fermented batter in a one-gallon zip-lock bag. Do nothing. Just place it on the kitchen counter.
Days 2, 3, 4, 5
Squeeze bag several times each day.
Day 6
Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. Squeeze the bag several times.
Days 7, 8, 9
Squeeze the bag several times each day.
Day 10
In large non-metal bowl, combine batter with 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. Mix with wooden spoon. Pour 3 – 1 cup starters into separate 1 gallon zip-lock bags and give away to friends with a copy of these instructions.
Add the following to the batter left in the bowl:
1 cup oil
3 large eggs
¼ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
In a separate bowl, combine the following dry ingredients and mix well:
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 large box instant vanilla pudding (may be substituted with different flavors)
2 tsp cinnamon
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
In a separate bowl, mix 1 tsp cinnamon and 3 tbsp sugar. Sprinkle into 2 well greased loaf pans or 6 small loaf pans before pouring in the batter.
Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool 5 minutes and then run a knife around the sides to loosen, remove from pan, and cook on rack. Enjoy!
